It is said that the yard used to be the house of the gifted ancient scholar and dignitary Mr. Ji Xiaolan in Qing dynasty. On the basis of the old house, the hotel made decoration with Chinease traditional color painting and bullion, which restored the charm of Chinese traditional culture to the maximum extent. Meanwhile, to meet the habits and customs of the overseas guests, the hotel built a Chinese restaurant, a Western restaurant, and a coffee bar except for the facilities such as tea house, mini cyber cafe, and satellite television. 1. The hotel standard and deluxe rooms are equipped with mini refrigerator and safty deposit box. The international satellite television is available on the bar activity area, which provides multi-langue programmes. 2. The original normal rooms and triple rooms without bathroom were changed into standard rooms. And deluxe honeymoon suites are also added. After alteration, the former single rooms are divided into: a. Featured Single Room: each room is 16m2 and was decorated in accordance with the featured traditional Chinese style. One can select rooms with different themes. b. Standard Double Room: divided into double room and twin room, each room is 22 m2 and is equipped with traditional Chinese furniture. c. Standard Triple Room: with 3 separated beds, each room is 24m2 and is equipped with traditional Chinease furniture. d. Deluxe Room: divided into double room and twin room, a part of them can add an extra bed; each room is 26 m2 and is equipped with a full set of furniture which can be traced back to Ming and Qing Dynasties. e. Deluxe Suite: each room is 46m2 and is equipped with bathtub, Chinese wooden bed, and furniture of Ming and Qing Dynasties. An extra bed can be added, and some rooms are of private garden balcony.

Although my room was small, it was perfect for my purposes. I will definitely recommend Double Happiness Courtyard Hotel to any of my friends who travel to Bejing. I especially enjoyed the "real" atmosphere of the setting and its close proximity to everything I wanted to visit in the city. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and they went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable and comfortable. The hotel was even prettier than the internet pictures--I was so pleased when I first saw the rooms and the courtyard. I assume that many people already know about Double Happiness because it was quite busy, but staff always seemed to have time to answer my many questions. Thanks so much for a first rate stay!
