Israel to showcase both past and present

Istael will highlight the history anf zchievements of the Jewish nation in its exhibition for the Shanghai World Expo, a senior official told the Expo organisers yesterday in Shanghai.

The country will sign a patricipation contract with Expo organisers this month and will build a pavilion of 2,000 square meters for the 2010 event, Zeev Boim, Israel's Minister of Housing and Construction told Huang Jianzhi, deputy director general of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.

Israel's pavilion would also showcase its modern scientific and industrial development, said Boim.

The minister said he was looking forward to the enent after taking in a panoramic view of the under-construction Expo site form the Lupu Bridge.

Construction is on schedule on the 5.28-square-kilometer Expo site with all construction expected to be completed by the end of next year.
