Shenzhen occupies an area of 2030 sq km (population 15 million) and is located immediately north of Hong Kong. Shenzhen is located 100 km southeast of the provincial capital of Guangzhou, 60 km south of the industrial city of Dongguan and 60 km southwest of the resort city of Zhuhai.

Thanks to him in May 1980, Shenzhen was formally nominated as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the first one of this kind in China. This has attracted huge investments toward Shenzhen (both from China and abroad), resulting in its great development. For over 30 years Shenzhen has been the Chinese city with the fastest growing.
The Shenzhen Stock Exchange
Being the main financial center in south China, Shenzhen also has its own Shenzhen Stock Exchange, that was founded on 1990. It is the second stock exchanges in China (after Shanghai). The listed companies are about 1500, the market capitalization of listed companies ITS amountes to RMB 6.6 trillion (USD 1.0 trillion). Numerous listed companies are subsidiaries of companies with state participation. In the same area there are also the headquarters of numerous high-tech companies.
The second tallest skyscraper in the world

Mild climate all year round
Shenzhen is located in the subtropical maritime area of China. The average temperature is about 23 degrees. The climate is warm, humid, monsoon-influenced. The winters are mild and dry. From April to October the heat increases until it reached a maximum (38-39 degrees) in July. During this period, also rainfall and humidity increase. In the months that follow, in the autumn, the climate is rather dry, with little rain and little humidity.
Shenzhen, the Hong Kong Chinese sister
Shenzhen is the young sister of Hong Kong, from wich is separated only from the border between Hong Kong and China. The two cities are connected by a convenient and fast subway line. Every day thousands of workers crossing the border (in both directions) to go to work in the other city. Among the authorities of Shenzhen and Hong Kong has been signed various agreements of cooperation and of gradual integration. This will bring them to join in one city in 2020, becoming the largest metropolis in the world.
