    TRAVEL INFORMATION ABOUT HONG KONG

Hong Kong area: 1,104 kmsq - Population: 7,125,000 - Currency: Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) - Languages: Chinese (Cantonese), English (both official) - Calling Code +852 - Internet TLD .hk - Time Zone UTC +8 - Subtropical Climate: the best time to visit Hong hong is from October to December and from February to May - Hong Kong (HK) is a Special Administrative Region (S.A.R.) of China. Located at the southeast coast of China, its territory is made up of four parts: Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, New Territories and Outlying Islands.

From British colony to Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China
Hong Kong is famous also for being a fishing village until al1841, when it became a British colony. The Britain changed this unknown country in the great city, thriving and full of life, that we all know today. In July 1997 Hong Kong, following an agreement made in the past, was returned to China becoming a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. Before returning to the possession of this territory, China had granted to Hong Kong a high degree of autonomy in all areas except foreign and defense. This has enabled Hong Kong to continue to maintain its image, to be the biggest 'duty free' in the world, but above all to continue being the wonderful city that tourists from around the world have made the most visited city in Asia.

The most visited destination in Asia: over 36 million visitors
Having exceeded 36 million visitors in 2010 (increase of 21.8%), Hong Kong is still the most visited tourist destination in Asia. According to the HKTB, the reasons that made possible this result so sensational to be found in international economic recovery and the weakness of Hong Kong dollar. This allows many foreign tourists to spend very little during their stay in Hong Kong. No doubt also the eternal charm of Hong Kong (and its many attractions) exerts an irresistible attraction for millions of tourists. The unique beauty of its natural harbor is an ideal background for those who come to visit Victoria Peak, Disneyland, Ocean Park and dozens of other attractions. Tourism is favored also by the fact that Hong Kong people also speak English. Most of the population (97%) is Chinese and speaks Cantonese Chinese and English (now also Mandarin Chinese). So the staff of hotels, restaurants, taxis and all those who have to deal with the tourism industry can communicate with tourists in English.

    High level of Hospitality specialization
Not everyone knows that Hong Kong has a strong expertise in the hospitality industry and it is believed to be a first for the global hospitality industry. Many Hong Kong's professionals are working in largest hotels in all the world. Also many hotels in China are run by Hong Kong firms specialized in conducting hotels. In Hong Kong there are vocational hospitality schools of international prestige. In the April 2011, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University is opened a five-star training hotel called Hotel Icon. It is a 28 storey hotel (with 265 guest rooms) that offer to students of hospitality industry the chance of direct experience in the running of a high-end hotel property. If you want to see these boys (young and talented) in arriving at the peak of professionalism, from here you can also book the Hotel Icon.
Common misspelling of HongKong Hotels: HonKong hotels, Hong Kong, hotel HongKon
