Shanghai
Shanghai is an amazing city, with a particular charm in the eyes of foreigners. It can happily combine ancient and modern, East and West, skyscrapers and shikumen, Chinese traditions and Western habits. Shanghai is the city where everything and the opposite of everything come together and miraculously they will agree to merge into a single entity that is precisely the spirit and charm of Shanghai. Shanghai is located on the delta of the Yangtze River, at east coast of China. The climate: autumn is dry and sunny, winter is cold and rainy, spring is short and rainy, summer is hot and humid. The population is now close to 24 million people (including also 7.5 million Chinese immigrants and 250,000 foreigners). Distance from some important cities: 121 km from Suzhou, 127 km from Wuxi, 170 km from Hangzhou, 315 km from Yiwu, 1080 km from Beijing.
Shanghai can accommodate millions of Chinese and foreign tourists. To accommodate the many travelers there are thousands of hotels at every level and every price. The most famous Shanghai attraction is the 'Bund', (located on the western bank of the Huangpu river) where there are impressive buildings of the former Shanghai International Settlement. Other important city landmarks are Nanjing Road, People s Square, Oriental Pearl TV Tower. The Shanghai Museum will allow you to better understand the China. For a sparkling night you can go to Xintiandi or Hongmei Street. The areas of French Concession and Old Shanghai Red Town will fascinate you. Also Jingan Temple, Longhua Pagoda, Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, Town god's temple are worth a visit. For shopping, as well as Nanjing Road, parhaps may also like you Huaihai Zhong Lu, Xin Qipu Market, Pearl City Market, Xing Wang Market.
