Croatia to show history, culture

Croatia will build a 2,000-square-meter pavilion showcasing its history and culture for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

The country confirmed this yesterday as it signed a participation contract with the Expo organizers.

Ivice Maricic, Croatia's commissioner general for World Expo 2010, signed the contract with Hong Hao, the director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, in the Croatian Pavilion at the Zaragoza Expo in Spain.

The country will also present its interpretation of thr "Better Life, Better City" Expo theme, Maricic said after the signing ceremony.

Vicente Loscertales, the secretary general of the International Expositions Bureau, Hua Hunduo, China's commissioner general for World Expo 2010, Shanghai's Vice Mayor Yang Xiong and Zhou Hanmin, the deputy director general of the bureau, were present.

Croatia confirmed its participation in August, 2006.
