 Hubei Province with Wuhan as its capital is located in the central part of China on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Nestling amid lofty and beautiful mountains in its east, west and north, its southern part is of a fresh rural scenery. Three Gorges of the Yangtze River are one of top ten tourist zones in China. The 198-km-long gorges from the city of Baidi in Chongqing's Fengjie in the west to Nanjin Pass of Yichang in the east are composed of Qutang, Wuxia and Xiling gorges. Lo- cated in the Three Gorges scenic zone are many natural and human landscapes, Baidi, Shibao stockaded village, Wushan Lesser Three Gorges, Shennong Stream, the Three Gorges Dam construction site and hometown of Qu Yuan. The Three Gorges Dam construction site has become a brilliant landscape of the tour. After the second closure of the Three Gorges in 2003, the landscape of the Three Gorges will be changed slightly. However, its majestic appearance is still existent.

Shennongjia is one of the noted virgin forests and nature reserves in China and has joined the world biosphere protection net of the United Nations. With a special geographic environment, rich plant and animal resources, many plants and animals to the verge of extinction can be found there. Shennongjia has been veiled by the mystery of the existence of the wild man, queer albino animals and the whereabouts of unknown rivers. Apart from the well preserved environment and distinctive natural landscapes, other special tours such as scientific investigation, rock-climbing, drifting and forest bath have been launched.

Mt Wudang, a famous sacred place of Taoism and a state-listed scenic spot, is reputed for its curious scenery, magnificent and ancient structures, valuable cultural relics, Chinese boxing and touching folk tales. Imposing buildings of Mt Wudang merge rocks and cliffs into an organic whole and constitute the great achievements of architectural culture of ancient China. In 1994 ancient buildings of Mt Wudang were listed in the World Heritage List The Mingxian Mausoleum in Zhongxiang is the only emperor mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty which has been listed in the World Cultural Heritage List. The grand mausoleum which is luxuriously decorated is composed of over 30 grand architectural complexes. Its marvelous layout and exquisite engravings are gems of ancient Chi- nese buildings.

Located on the beautiful and fertile Jianghan Plain and gifted for rich products and ample provisions and fodder, Hubei, the transport center of the country, was a place of strategic importance during the Three Kingdoms. Noted ancient relics of the Three Kingdoms include Jingzhou ancient wall, ancient Longzhong, the ancient battlefields of Red Crag and Xiaoting, Guan Gong's Tomb and Shuijing village. Wuhan in the middle of Central China on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River flourishes because of the Yangtze River. It is a cultural and historic city thanks to its gorgeous natural scenery, brilliant human landscapes and special folk customs. The national economy of Wuhan has made rapid progress in recent years. The city is changing fast and its service facilities are complete and being perfected. Wuhan has become a communication, economic£¬trade, cultural and tourist center and is a noted tourist city in China.
