France Pavilion to be Expo show-stopper

The France Pavilion, known as the "Sensual City", will be a show-stopper and will "bring a surprise" to visitors during the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, France's Expo commissioner general has said.

The commissioner general, Alain Vauthier, described the 6,000-square-meter France Pavilion in a meeting in Paris with Zhou Hanmin, deputy director general of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.

The Expo theme is "Better City, Better Life". The France Pavilion will feature the pleasures of the senses and the urban good life. It will showcase classic French gardens, food, wine and fashion as well as modern urban achievements The pavilion on the Huangpu River will showcase a spectacular garden and water pool in the center of the structure, as well as water outside.

Construction will begin soon and is expected to be completed within 10 months, said Vauthier.

Zhou expressed thanks for France's support to the Expo and said the France pavilion would symbolize the two nations' friendship.
