German delegation visits Expo Bureau

A delegation led by Peter Neven, managing director of the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry, yesterday held talks with Chen Xianjin, deputy director general of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, on construction at the Expo site, ticketing, accommodations and the Expo master plan among other issues.

Chen briefed Neven on the five permanent structures and how they will be used after the event ends. He said organizers hoped the construction of 40-plus self-built pavilions would start soon.

In response to Neven's question on how to keep the daily number of visitors around the average level, Chen said organizers would raise ticket prices for golden weeks and several days around the opening and closing dates and offer night ticket discounts to avoid over-crowding.

Neven presented his suggestions on measures to control visitor flow and activities as an expert in the fair industry and hoped the Expo would attract people with a business background.

The Association of the German Trade Fair Industry was founded in 1907.
