Guangzhou to showcase water treatment success at Expo

Guangzhou will create a multimedia representation of its water treatment campaign for the Urban Best Practice Area at World Expo 2010 Shanghai, the city's deputy mayor said yesterday after signing a contract with Expo organizers in Shanghai.

The city will use movie, flash and models to share its water treatment measures experiences with other cities and countries, the city said in its UBPA plan -- "Water Treatment for Urban Sustainable Development".

It will also show the effect of the campaign by comparing the formet and current condition of the city's main rivers, including the Zhujiang River and Nansha Harbor.

Chuangzhou Launched its city-wde water treatment campaign in 2001. The campaign aims to Purify the city's tiver channels and improvr the city ecology to make Guangzhou a "garden city".

In 2001, the city received an award from the United Nations for its achievement on living environment improvement.
