Japanese councilors offer Expo environment ideas

The Japanese delegation visited the master plan exhibition hall in the Expo mansion.

A Japanese delegation led by Sahashi Norikazu, Democtatic councilor of Nagoya City, today visited the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination to discuss Expo energy and environmental protection with organizers.

Wu Yunfei, deputy direvtor of the bureau, welcomed the delegation and gave a progress report on Expo. Wu said the organizers would be able to learn from the 1970 Osaka Expo and 2005 Aichi Expo in Japan during their preparations.

Wu said a "Green Expo" was one of the most important ideas of the Shanghai World Expo. For example, the organizers have fully made use of old factories in the Expo site and planted many trees.
