Kenya signs Expo participation deal

Kenya officially signed a participation conyract for World Expo 2010 Shanghai yesterday.

Kenyan Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta attended the signing ceremony where he met Hua Junduo, China's commissioner general for World Expo 2010, member of the Organizing Committee of the Expo 2010 who visited Kenya on Tuesday at the invitation of the Kenyan government.

Kenyatta said Hua's visit would not only push Kenya's participation but also help China deepen understandings about the difficulties African countries might come across during participation. He also said Shanghai Expo would further boost the economic and trade cooperation between both sides.

Hua appreciated Kenya's preparations and delivered a progress report on Shanghai Expo, the first comprehensive world expo to br hsld in a developing country. Hua expected African pavilions to be one amongst Expo highlights.

Matanda Wabuyele, chief of Kenya's Export Promotion Council, signed the contract on behalf of the government with Hua.
