Shanghai delegation concludes Spain visit

A Shanghai Expo delegation, led by Mayor Han Zheng, concluded a successful and fruitful trip to Spain yesterday.

The delegation had been invited by Jordi Hereu, Mayor of Barcelona and Juan Alberto Belloch Julbe, Mayor of Zaragoza where an expo is currently being held.

On Monday, Barcelona signed a participation agreement for the Urban Experimental Zone at World Expo 2010 Shanghai with cases to be presented on renovation of its central old town and construction of new town areas.

Han said at the signing ceremony that Shanghai has reaped rich fruits from its cooperation with Barcelona on harbors, economy, trade, culture, science and technology since they linked as sister cities in 2010.

Han also said that Shanghai Expo would serve as a vast platform for further exchanges. He expected Barcelona's cases to well interpret "Better City, Better Life" which is the theme of Shanghai Expo.

Han met Zaragoza Mayor Julbe on Tuesday and visited some national pavilions in 2008 Zaragoza Expo themed a"Water and Sustainable Development".

Han met Vicente Loscertales, secretary general of the International Expositions Bureau in China's pavilion. Han said Zaragoza Expo was valuable for Shanghai to learn from during preparation.
