Three more African countries sign up

Three more African countries, Egypt, Mali and Lesotho, yesterday signed World Expo participation contracts. To date, 50 African countries have either signed with Shanghai Expo 2010 organizers or indicated they plan to do so.

To date, 223 countries and international organizations have indicated they will take part, including 101 that have signed formal contracts.

Egypt will showcase the capital city of Cairo and the Nile Delta as one of the cradles of human civilization. Egypt will rent a 1,000 square-meter pavilion.

Mali will take world economy as its presentation theme during the Expo. It will exhibit in the Joint-African Pavilion.

The tiny landlocked kingdom of Lesotho will use the joint African pavilion, showcasing traditional and modern urban settings.
