The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China
presents its compliments to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia and has the honour to confirm that the Government of the
People's Republic of China and the Government of the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia, through friendly consultations, have reached the following
agreement on the mutual establishment of consulates general:
1. The Government of the People's Republic of China agrees to the
establishment of a consulate general of the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia in Shanghai with the consular district comprising Shanghai
Municipality, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces.
2. The Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia agrees to
the establishment of a consulate general of the People's Republic of
China in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia with the place and the
consular district subject to further consultations through diplomatic
channels.
3. The Governments of the two countries will, within the framework
of the stipulations of their respective laws, provide each other with
all necessary assistance for the establishment of the Consulates
General.
If the Embassy confirms in a note of reply the above points on
behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the
present note and the note of reply of the Embassy shall constitute an
agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and
the Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and be effective
from the date of the note of reply.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China
avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the Federal
Republic of Yugoslavia the assurances of its highest consideration.

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in China presents
its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's
Republic of China and has the honour to acknowledge the receipt of the
latter's Note, (98) Bu Ling Er Zi No. 006 dated 19 January 1998, which
reads as follows:
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China
presents its compliments to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia and has the honour to confirm that the Government of the
People's Republic of China and the Government of the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia, through friendly consultations, have reached the following
