The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China
presents its compliments to the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary and
has the honour to receive the note No. 2-34/1998 dated 19 May 1998 which
reads follows:
"The Embassy of the Republic of Hungary presents its compliments to
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and
has the honour, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Hungary
to confirm that out of the common desire to further develop the friendly
relations between the two countries and in accordance with Article 157
of the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the
People's Republic of China, the two sides have, through friendly
consultations, reached the following agreement on the establishment by
the Republic of Hungary of a consulate general in the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China:
Άρ. The Government of the People's Republic of China agrees to the
establishment by the Government of the Republic of Hungary of a
consulate general with a seat in the Hong Kong Special Administrative
Region of the People's Republic of China, with the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region as its consular district. The consular district
will also include the Macao Special Administrative Region of the
People's Republic of China after the Government of the People's Republic
of China resumes the exercise of sovereignty over Macao.
Άς. The number of officials and staff members of the Consulate
General of the Republic of Hungary in the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China shall not exceed
seven.
Άσ. The Consulate General of the Republic of Hungary in the Hong
Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China
shall exercise the consular functions in accordance with the Vienna
Convention on Consular Relations and the relevant laws and regulations
of the People's Republic of China, including the laws and regulations of
the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of
China.
Άτ. Matters not covered in this agreement shall be dealt with in
accordance with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms in a note of reply the
above points on behalf of the Government of the People's Republic of
China, the present note and the return note of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs shall constitute an agreement between the governments of the two
countries which will be effective from the date of the return note of
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the honour, on behalf of the
Government of the People's Republic of China, to confirm and agree to
the points in the above note.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China
avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the
Republic of Hungary the assurances of its highest consideration.
