DECISION OF THE STANDING COMMITTEE OF THE NATIONAL PEOPLE'S
CONGRESS ON AUTHORIZING THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN ECONOMIC RELATIONS AND
TRADE TO EXERCISE THE POWER OF RATIFICATION OF THE FORMER FOREIGN
INVESTMENT COMMISSION
(Adopted at the 26th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the
Fifth National People's Congress on March 5, 1983)
The 22nd Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Fifth National People's
Congress, in its Decision on the Question of Structural Reform of the
State Council, decided to establish the Ministry of Foreign Economic
Relations and Trade through a merger of the Import and Export Commission,
the Ministry of Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations
and the Foreign Investment Commission. In view of this, the power of
ratification formerly exercised by the Foreign Investment Commission
pursuant to the Law of the People's Republic of China on Chinese-Foreign
Equity Joint Ventures and other laws and regulations concerning foreign
economic relations shall hereafter be exercised accordingly by the
Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade.
