Four suspects involved in the explosion and robbery of a bank cash vehicle in the capital city of northeastern Liaoning Province mid last month have been caught by local police, public security authorities announced Sunday. The armored vehicle carrying cash was exploded in front of a branch of the Shenyang City Commercial Bank late in the afternoon on Jan. 18, killing three people and injuring five others, including bank clerks and the vehicle's guards. The criminals snatched 1.97 million yuan (US$237,350) and fled on a mini-bus. The four suspects, namely Zhang Xianming, 37, and his brother Zhang Xianhui, 28, and Li Yanbin, 26, and Li Yanbo, 29, were all males respectively from Jixi City and Mulan County in northernmost Heilongjiang province. Nearly 10,000 policemen were organized sent for the search and hunting operation and relevant authorities also offered a reward of up to 300,000 yuan (US$36,000) for crucial information relating to the escapees. The police have retaken more than 1.8 million yuan (US$216,000), three hunting guns believed to be weaponry used in the armed robbery, and 30 rounds of ammunition. According to the Liaoning Provincial public security chief Li Wenxi, based on a host of evidences the police had obtained, the four suspects were also related to another cash vehicle robbery case that had occurred in the city of Shenyang two years ago, in which 780,000 yuan (US$94,000) was taken.
