Fly at 99 Malaysian cents to three Chinese cities

Malaysia-Beijing Travel Services Sdn Bhd (MasBe) has joined forces with Hainan Airlines of China to offer an unbelievable RM0.99 (US$0.26) one-way airfare to the three southern Chinese destinations of Haikou (Hainan), GuangZhou and Shenzen (Guangdong province). The product, known as MasBe Airlines, is valid between September 30 and December 2005. The normal one-way trip to the three destinations is RM988 while a return flight costs RM1,100. The special fares are only available via telephone bookings at 1-300-88-2838. Hainan Airlines will fly to the three cities from September 30 and will have six scheduled services a week using its latest B737-800 aircraft. MasBe' managing director, Ng Kek Kiong, said the low fare was made possible following a five-year strategic alliance between the company and the airline. He added Hainan Airlines was not a budget carrier, and the special fares were introduced to popularise the three destinations among Malaysian visitors. About 400,000 Malaysians visit China every year. The promotion was also aimed at attracting more Chinese to visit Malaysia as Hainan Airlines will also extend to Chinese tourists the special RMB1 airfare to Malaysia. Malaysia Beijing Travel hopes to bring in 210,000 Chinese tourists by the end of 2005. |
