JAPAN Airlines (JAL) has flown the first charter flight to Macau on May 4. The Highest International Standards (HIS) agency packed the flight with 230 Japanese travellers who departed from Nagoya and spent four days in Macau.
The purpose is for HIS and JAL to explore the potential of the tourism market of Macau as well as the Macau International Airport.
While HIS previously has worked with other airlines to organise charter flights to Macau, this is the first time that HIS is co-operating with the largest airline in Japan.
Japan is the fourth largest market for Macau. There were almost 170,000 visitors from Japan last year, an increment of 38 per cent compared with 2004. Macau Government Tourist Office will carry out large-scale promotional activities in Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto later this month.
JAL plans to operate 800 charter flight services, up 10 per cent compared with last year. The charter flights include destinations such as Palau, Alaska, Alice Springs, Urumuqi and Ulan Bator. |
