11-Mar-2005 - Xinhua
New Beijing One-Day Tour will begin comprehensive operation in April. The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Tourism (BMBT) will introduce travel routes with features of the new Beijing to domestic and foreign travel agencies and tourists.

Wang Qing, director of the First Market Promotion Division of the BMBT, indicated that the New Beijing One-Day Tour would present various new Beijing scenic spots to tourists. Tourists can experience Beijing's expressways and visit the Goldfish Pool District, a representative reconstruction project of dilapidated houses. They can visit environmental-friendly sewage treatment plants, and can also tour the CBD (Central Business District), which reflects Beijing's economic development.

The Folk-custom Village, Xiaotangshan Hot Spring and Splendid Earth Sightseeing Park, which show the economic development of Beijing's rural areas, are all planned destinations. Tourists can visit the Capital Planning Museum which represents Beijing's future. The Baigongfang Workshop showcases Beijing's traditional crafts and souvenirs. In addition, Hutongs (ancient Beijing alleyways) and the National Museum will be included in the Tour.

The BMBT released its 40 activities for the year of 2005 March 10, including an overseas Chinese compatriot celebration in April, and an activity in May named "From Champs Elysees to Badaling Great Wall" in which French officials, artists, handicraftsmen and entrepreneurs will participate. The BMBT will also hold the International Tourism Expo, the Promotion Fair on Beijing Olympic Tourism and the Promotion Fair on New Tourist Products in June.

In July, it will organize the Beijing International Incentive Tourism Trade Fair and the International Teens' Carnival.
