Two million passengers travel by air in China for Spring Festival

Chinese airlines reported 2.02 million journeys on Chinese airlines over the Spring Festival period, said an official with the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China here Thursday.
During the week-long holiday from Jan. 22 to 28, passengers on Chinese airlines increased by 13.5 percent year on year, with a 66-percent average occupancy rate.
Tourism cities, such as Sanya, a beach city on the southernmostisland province of Hainan, and Harbin, the "city of ice" in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, were the most popular destinations.
Flights to and from these cities had up to 90 percent of seats occupied.
