Hanshiqiao
Location: The border between Shunyi District and Pinggu District, 30 kilometers northeast of downtown Beijing.
Getting there: drive along Jing-Shun (Beijing-Shunyi) Road and Shun-Ping (Shunyi-Pinggu) Road. The site is half way to Pinggu.
Miyun Reservoir
The reservoir is a popular destination for downtown residents.
Location: Miyun County, 20 kilometres north of Miyun Town and 60 kilometres from downtown Beijing.
It will be listed under government protection as a wetland reserve later this year.
Getting there: drive north along Jing-Shun Road to Kuliushu Traffic Circle and then forwarding Miyun.
Jinhai Lake
Jinhai Lake is a famous travel resort for
Beijing vacationers. It will also become a wetland reserve later this year.
Getting there: drive along Jing-Shun and Shun-Ping Roads to Pinggu Town, look for signs to direct you there.
Yongdinghe (Yongding River) wetland
Location: Mentougou and Fangshan districts, southwest of downtown Beijing.
Getting there: Take bus routes 326, 336 ro drive forwarding Mentougou.
Beiyunhe (North Canal)
A large wetland park will be established here.
Getting there: Take bus routes 205, 228, 329 or drive along Jing-Shen (Beijing-Shenyang) Highway.
Bahe Wetland Park
This is the first wetland park established in February, 2004.
It covers 66 hectares and another four 1,000-mu (66 hectares) wetland area will be also included in the park.
Getting there: Drive along Jing-Shun Road to Jiuxianqiao.
Cuihu Lake
This is one the few places in
Beijing to watch lotus flowers in summer. It covers more than 20 hectares.
Getting there: Take bus 346 at North Gate of Summer Palace.
