Cuban ministries unite in Expo push

Cuba is making an all-out effort to prepare for World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, said Paul Becerra Egana, president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce.

The government of the Caribbean nation will bring together the ministries of culture, construction and foreign affairs to put on a splendid exhibition and demonstrate the Expo theme, Better City, Better Life, Becerra Egana said.

He made the comments yesterday in a meeting with Chen Xianjin, deputy director of the Expo Coordination Bureau. Cuba has always attached great importance to World Expos and will sign its participation contract for the 2010 event this month, he said.

Chen briefed the delegation on preparations for the Expo and Latin American participation.

The Cuban commercial delegation visited the Expo master plan in the Expo Museum and got a bird’s eye view of the construction site from atop the building.
