THE Deputy Mayor of London, Jodie Woodward, visited the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination today.
Zhou Hanmin, deputy director general of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination met with a delegation led by Woodward for talks about the preparations for World Expo 2010 Shanghai and to exchange ideas about the city's development.
Zhou presented the Expo's concept and idea as well as a general introduction to the current state of preparations.
"We use Expo as a language to call people of different countries together," Zhou said,"Five to ten percent of the expected 70 million visitors will be from overseas."
Woodward thanked Zhou for his speech and said London was an old city but it was still growing fast. It had many similarities with Shanghai.
She also showed her great interest on the Urban Best Practice Area (UBPA). She said she hoped London would be part of the UBPA and to work together with other cities to confront climate change world.
After the conversation, the Deputy Mayor had a bird's view of the Expo site from atop the Expo mansion where she also struck the lucky bronze bell and then visited the Expo Exhibition Hall.
