Rocio Maneiro Gonzalez, Venezuela's ambassador to China, on Friday promised to step up the country's preparation for the Shanghai World Expo.

The envoy met Hua Junduo, China's commissioner general for World Expo 2010, and said his country would try to begin preparation in an all-around manner by the year's end.

Hua briefed the Latin American delegation on the status of Expo preparations. He expressed hope that Venezuela would sign the official participation contract and appoint a commissioner general for the Expo as soon as possible.

Hua said organizers would extend the full support and services to Venezuela.
