Nagqu is located in the northern part of Tibet and is 338 kilometers from Lhasa.
It is at the juncture of three highways of the Qinghai-Tibet Highway. Northern section of tile Sichuan-Tibet Highway and Heihe Highway. Nagqu has good transport
facilities and a unique landscape. Lake Nam co:
Nam Co is the highest lake in the world
and is 4,718 meters above sea level. It has an
area of 1,940 square kilometers. Some 60 kilo-
meters to the northwest of Damxung Count
seat, it is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet.
Nyainqentanglha Mountain: Extending for 600 kilometers, this mountain is the line of demarcation between the Yarlung Zangbo River and Nujiang River. 30-odd peaks are more than 6.000 meters high, of which four are more than 7.000 meters high.
Qangtang Grassland: In the area between the Kunlun, Tanggula and Gangdise-Nyainqentanglha mountains, it covers two-thirds of the total area of Tibet. It is more than 4,500 meters above sea level at average. With a unique scene, this grassland is teeming with 1,.000 kinds of wildlife, including some 40 kinds under the national or regional protection.
Zhoima Canyon Scenic Spot: In Gulu Township 92 kilometers to the south of Nagqu Town, the Zhoima Canyon Scenic Spot has an average elevation of 4,700 meters. It has good transport facilities and a nice natural environment with beautiful mountains and lakes. In June and July, the climate here is warm and comfortable. With flowers and grass everywhere, the spot is attractive.
