Overall it was a good stay. The location is good being across the street from the park, and there are several decent restaurants close by.

We stayed in the budget room (240RMB/night) in the annex building. Amusement and breakfast was not applicable for us. English was a problem at the reception, but eventually it worked out. Accomodation was ok, but I think they didn't clean the room for ages. With the gathered hair on the floor we could make a wig or two. After we sacrificed a towel to clean the place is was ok. The airco was noisy and as of 7 am sleeping was out of the question because of the constant ringing of the floor telephone and the screaming of the staff (a recurrent thing in all the hotels we stayed in in China). The bed was ok. Final conclusion: the location was brilliant (in front of Summer palace entrance), for a night or two it was ok and better than the average Chinese budget hotels.

Everything worked very well with the reservation through Chinahotelsreservation.com. Very good support. Hotel and room was clean and comfortable. The location of the Mountain Villa Hotel in Chengde is perfect to explore the Summer Resort and the Outer Temples. Staff at reception speaks quite good english. No comments on amusement and breakfast, because I did not use it. I just slept there. I can recommend it and would come back. For chinese standards it is a good offer and choice.

Did not try Breakfast and Amusements, vote with 0.0 ! Anything else o.k., good deal for the room price. Upgrade from room in annex building to standard room in regular building was very nice.

The location is really handy for the sights of Chengde, downsides are the over zealous cleaners who assume things should be discarded when they actually shouldn't! We rented bikes here for Y50 per bike, the quality of the bikes were not very good and the bike chain fell off during my bike ride, and had some difficulty bargaining a lower price for the bikes back at the hotel for this inconvenience of getting it repaired! Western breakfast is served in the restaurant, though don't get your hopes up for it to be upto much, it's Y20, and bring your money with you to breakfast!

amusement: i didn't measure clean but fusty smell in the room; the hair dryer was missing in the bathroom it would have been better if the breakfast could be western style, at least hot chocolate for children and (cow) milk to add to coffee for example; the welcome with english speaking employees could be better. otherwise, everyting Was OK!

Loved our 2 day stay in Chengde. packed in heaps. Plenty of walking - distance sight seeing around town and SummerPalace. Excellent meals in town. Booking online with China hotels reservation.com was particularly efficient.
