Yiwu Economic Development Area
Zhejiang Yiwu Economic Development Area was founded in 1992, and carried out development of the first period, has total planning area of 44 square kilometres. After ten years since establishment, the Yiwu Economic Development Area sticks to the policies of "High starting point, High-tech, High speed, High efficiency" and take industry, attracting and using foreign capital, exporting to earn foreign exchange as key, devote to developing high and new technology enterprise, develops at its own expenses, balances by itself, exploits and innovates, keep forging ahead with great firmness, after ten years struggle, has developed the wild mountain and land of the first and second periods with the area of 3.5 square kilometers into a rising industrial City, becoming one of the most successful and vital development areas in the middle of Zhejiang. In 1994, Yiwu was approved as a Provincial Economic Development Area by the Zhejiang People's Government. In 1998, it was appraised Provincial Advanced Development Area, and is a unique provincial economic development area. It therefore gains relevant preferential policy treatment. Furthermore, as the institution appointed by the Yiwu People's Government, it is supported by the People's Government to execute leadership, program and management initiatives of the development area.
After finishing the projects of the first and second phases with total areas of 3.5 sq. km and a total investment value of RMB 5 billion Yuan, Zhejiang Yiwu Economic Development Area has attracted 296 industrial enterprises, fostered a large group of leading scale enterprises such as Langsha Socks, Niannianhong Furniture, Huahong Craftwork, Weihai Zipper, Sanding Strap Weaving, Wangbin Photo Frame, Shunshizhen Underwear etc., in which Langsha is appraised as a "China Famous Brand". Langsha Socks is the first enterprise to gain China famous brand status in Jinhua, and also is a unique China famous brand in China hosiery industries. In 2002, there was a finished industrial output value of RMB 6.41 billion Yuan and foreign trade export delivery value of RMB 0.464 billion Yuan, among which self-management of export value is USD 45,520,000, finance income is RMB 92,940,000 Yuan. At current, the project of the third period with the developing area of 7.1 square kilometer is under full construction, and totally attracts 56 industrial enterprises, in which, high and new-technology industries are 17, foreign investment enterprises are 16, scale leading enterprises are 9, brand enterprises are 8, including 3 enterprises with China Famous Brand. The total land use area is 2600 mou. The developing area of 22 square kilometers of the fourth period will be fully initiated in 2003. Currently, two national projects are under way, which are the Export Processing Area and Yixinan China Commodity Manufacturing Foundation of 100 square kilometres. These are major development areas and leading projects. This is a magic hot land, with many possibilities.
