China Zhongshan City:
Zhongshan  Geography:Situated on Zhongshan island (sometimes called Macao island), Zhongshan is located in the western part of the Pearl River Delta, north of Zhuhai and south of Guangzhou. Zhongshan Map 

 Zhongshan Economy:Primary productions are agricultural, such as rice, lychee, banana, and sugar cane. History:The history of Zhongshan could be traced back to the middle and late Neolithic Age (about 5000 years ago) when the Gu Yue aboriginals fished, hunted, and settled on Xiangshan Island. Xiangshan was ever a part of Pan Yu County in the Han Dynasty, and a part of Dong Guan County in the Jin Dynasty. On 15th April 1925, it was renamed the Zhongshan County. On 30th October 1949, Zhongshan County was liberated. Since then, the county was divided into Zhuhai County, Doumen County and Panyu County and on 22nd December 1983, Zhongshan County was upgraded to Zhongshan City.  Zhongshan Tourism:Zhongshan has got immense tourism potential. It boasts of beautiful water country scenery, vast rice paddies with in numerous water channels, well known historic sites, and KMT's (the Nationalists') legacies. In recent years, this city has witnessed major developmental activities as it has been developing amazingly fast with booming township enterprises, urban construction and tourism. Zhongshan Attractive points:Former Residence of Sun Yat-sen The Former Residence of Sun Yat-sen is located in Cuiheng Town, 29 kilometers from downtown Zhongshan. A two-story building, it was designed in both traditional Chinese and Western styles by Dr. Sun Yat-sen himself. In front of the building there is an exhibition hall, displaying many relics and the life of Sun Yat-sen. Cuiheng village The Cuiheng village that is situated 17.6 kilometers southeast of Zhongshan downtown was established in the latter half of the 17th century (during the reign of Kangxi Emperor). This village has got immense tourist potential, as it is the hometown of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Over time, this Village is getting popularity, as it has now become a multi-faceted tourist destination, with a newly built Science Fiction Film Center near the Cuiheng Hotel. The Zhongshan Park The Zhongshan Park lies west of Tian'anmen Gate. About a thousand years ago, this park used to be the site of Xingguosi (Temple of National Revival) in the northeastern part of the city of Yanjing (Yan Capital, the old name of Beijing) during the Liao and Jin dynasties (9l6-l234). The whole park has a host of colorful flower "vase" stands and a memorial arch of white marble with the inscription "Defend Peace". The park is also well known for its great variety of flowers and goldfish, ancient halls and cypresses, the charming pavilions, summer houses and grotesque rock gardens. The park attracts millions of visitors each year. |
