The Datong Hotel (Datong binguan) is an international four star standard hotel in Datong. It was build in 1972, and renovated and expanded in 2000. The hotel is located in the city center, close to the railway station and same famous sights There are more than 220 guestrooms within this four star hotel, including Presidential Suites. All rooms are equipped with IDD, satellite TV, minibar and dataport. The hotel has Chinese and western restaurants as well as a tea house. The Chinese Restaurant mainly serves Sichuan, Cantonese and local cuisine.

Very good value for money. A spacious old hotel, our room had a balcony and it was set well back from the street. The assistant manager Wang Peng was very helpful and spoke good english.

I am satisfied by this hotel. Only one thing disappointed me: the weather was cold and it was impossible to warm the room. The room was too cold.

Datong Hotel is a pleasant hotel, with an high standard of quality. We had a standard room that was quite good, with a huge bathroom. Everything was very well. We had comfort in this hotel and recommend it. It is a little bit far from the city center, to go by walk (about 3 km). Turning left in the next cross, after the hotel, in the oposite sense of the city center, we found a chinese restaurant with a fabulous relation quality/price, that we also recommend.

Our stay was too short to get anything more than just a brief impression (4am - 10 am). The hotel is open during the night, which was a plus for us. We arrived a little to late for breakfast (which is from 7:30 - 9:00), but were allowed to pick some left-overs. Friendly English-speaking personel at the reception. Overall we were satisfied with our stay at the Datong Hotel.

Friendly and professional check-in Room smells of smoke (incl bed linen and towels). No choice of non-smoking room Sauna (listed as hotel amenity on your website) permanently closed Hotel staff (maids) and some guests very noisy in the hallway early in the morning (before 8 AM)

1. Restaurant Menus should have the English words 'rape' and 'fuck' removed from them! Both of these are offensive sexual terms in English. In fact 'fuck' is probably rate world wide in English speaking countries as the 2nd most offensive words. 2. Possible improvement, could provide train booking and tour booking services r at least more assistance with contacting the tour operators. Overall we had a nice stay at Datong Hotel.
