THE MAP OF SHANGHAI METRO
The Shanghai Metro is China's largest system of urban transport and it is also the metro with the fastest growing in the world. The subway in Shanghai was opened in 1995 and was the third built in China, after Beijing and Tianjin. Since then, the Shanghai Metro is continuously and rapidly grown to become the largest network in the world. Today, in Shanghai are operating 13 underground lines, 268 stations and more than 420 km of tracks in operation. The line 13 is inaugurated in the 2010 and is specifically designed for Shanghai Expo 2010: this line consists of 5 km that links Pudong and Puxi, across and under Expo Park. In 2009, the Shanghai Metro has had an average of 3.5 million daily visitors. In 2010, after the start of Shanghai Expo, very often it were exceeded 5 million daily visitors.
