The Red Coral Hotel is very nice - the rooms are enormous/spacious and exceptionally good value for money. Although I may mention some problems/suggestions below - I would still like to impress upon you that this hotel is working very well.
Suggestions:
1. Staff should be more confident in their endeavours to speak English; if I hadn't have come with my Chinese colleague Sisi, I think communications/language would have been a problem.
2. The decor of the rooms is a bit old and needs a little updating - but I also like the charm of this old decor - so I am a bit ambivalent about the matter.... but I was impressed by the number of facilities - especially that the rooms offer internet access (very impressed with that!!) and multi-channel television.
3. The cleaners did not always clean everywhere - I noticed that the surfaces of the tables/counters were not wiped during my stay; and on one day my bed was left unmade. Not impressed with that.
4. The bathroom was very nice but again needs a little updating. But there's really nothing wrong with it. It was very clean.
5. Quietness - sometimes the other guests were very noisy (especially towards the end of my stay) but I suffered no sleepless nights. The bed was extremely comfortable.
6. The television should have some more satellite/foreign stations with more English language programmes. This is what good hotels offer in other countries. That is a suggestion I think should be taken seriously.
7. For foreigners, I think the breakfast and (in the rooms) should offer tea with milk and sugar. I could not find this.....but the breakfast in general was fine, by the way.
8. Sometimes taxis refused to stop in front of the hotel. I understand there are rules, but this is a hotel!! Taxis must stop in front of it.
Overall I was impressed by the Red Coral Hotel and its professional staff. I would definitely stay there again if I come to Zhengzhou.
