105 Tollgates to Be Dismantled in South China

The Guangdong Provincial Government has approved the cancellation of a total of 105 tollgates in the province's 15 prefecture or higher level cities this year, the provincial pricing bureau said Friday. The 15 cities are Shenzhen, Foshan, Meizhou, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Qingyuan, Chaozhou, Shaoguan, Heyuan, Shanwei, Zhanjiang, Maoming, Jieyang, Zhaoqing and Yunfu. Conditions for remaining tollgates will be changed. Instead of paying fees each time they pass tollgates, drivers can now choose to buy an annual ticket to cover tollgate charges. The provincial pricing bureau also revealed that the provincial government had reviewed more than 100 administrative fees and found that 24 had no legal support. These are expected to be abolished in the near future. |
