25 Percent Chinese Give up Outgoing Plans
|
8-Oct-2001 - |
Some 25 percent of Chinese residents will probably give up their outgoing plans during the Spring Festival period as transport fares rise dramatically, according to a recent survey of 1,800 residents in big cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The survey shows festival spending will rise this year, with larger proportion on entertainment and travel. It is estimated that each family will spend one tenth of their yearly income during the fest. Starting January 10, China entered the annual Spring Fest peak travel period and fares for planes, buses, trains and ships have risen consequently by 30 to 40 percent. |
