50 Million Flexible Workers in China
|
8-Jan-2005 - China Radio International |
The number of flexible workers in China's cities and towns has soared to over 50 million, making up 18 percent of total urban employees.
The major types of flexible workers are temporary workers, seasonal workers, domestic workers and freelancers.
With a completely different working timetable to traditional full-time job, flexible work has become more popular in recent years.
An official with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security says China will give priority to the new flexible working pattern through tax breaks and more investment to encourage employment.
The country also plans to draw up new laws and regulations to protect the legal rights of flexible workers.
