Accor plans China growth for Ibis
|
22-Dec-2003 - |
ACCOR Asia Pacific is planning to accelerate the growth of its Ibis brand in Asia to meet growing demand from budget-conscious business travellers. The company's Asia-Pacific managing director, Mr Michael Issenberg, said in Bangkok yesterday Accor would open an Ibis in Tianjin in January, in Chengdu towards the end of next year, and in Xingdao in 2005. The brand has been successfully established in Indonesia where we have eight Ibis properties and the time is now right for us to develop the brand in commercial centres in other countries where space is at a premium, Mr Issenberg said. He added further developments could be anticipated in China, if the market accepted the concept of a hotel with limited dining and entertainment areas. Ibis hotels are purpose-built to Accor specifications and typically have 150 to 200 guestrooms measuring 17 m2 to 22m2, one restaurant and no meeting space. |
