|
8-Jun-2004 - |
China has entered the age for regional tourism cooperation, said experts attending China Domestic Tourism Mart in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, Saturday. Western China's Tibet autonomous region, and northwestern China's Qinghai and Gansu provinces officially announced their regional cooperation in tourism so as to foster the image of China Tibet Plateau, whereas central Hubei province and southwestern Chongqing municipality joined hands to build the Three Gorges image. In another development, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and Shanghai municipality, all economic center powerhouses in east China, announced their decision to establish the Yangtze Delta tourism region. Meanwhile, such a trend of integration became apparent within a province. In east China's Shangdong, for example, four cities, namely Qingdao, Zibo, Tai'an and Qufu worked in cooperation to construct a cultural route with the Confucius mausoleum in Qufu at the center. These cities are aimed at attracting more tourists from both at China overseas. With its mighty Yangtze and Pearl rivers and the towering Tibetan Plateau, popularly known as the roof of the world, China can benefit truly from the overall resources, acknowledged Fan Hui, a noted tourism expert. And experts acknowledged that regional cooperation has featured the maturity of China's fast expanding domestic tourism market. A decade ago, the cooperation between Guangdong Province, and Hong Kong and Macao in south China helped boost Guangdong's tourism development and facilitate the smooth flow and exchange of human and material resources and financial capital and prompt the rapid growth of trade cooperation in the region. Tourism can not only benefit from regional cooperation but also improve tourism market, according to tourism experts. |
