22-Jan-2008 - ttg |
AIRASIA X has become the first airline to launch direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Hangzhou, China starting from February 4. The new service to Hangzhou is the airline's second longhaul destination after Gold Coast, Australia which was launched last November.
The announcement follows AirAsia's pre-launch announcement of its new Guangzhou-Kuala Lumpur route.
Flights depart from Kuala Lumpur at 08.10 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and at 17.25 on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Flights depart from Hangzhou at 14.00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and at 23.15 on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
AirAsia X CEO, Mr Azran Osman-Rani, said: "Given its popularity among customers from our existing AirAsia and AirAsia X destinations, we are confident there will be solid demand for the Hangzhou route, which serves the Zhejiang province and the neighbouring Greater Shanghai metropolitan.
"The first longhaul route to the Gold Coast has been a huge success, with 50,000 seats sold by mid-January valued at US$15 million. We expect the Hangzhou route to follow the same pattern of success." |
