18-Mar-2004 - |
Air seat and cargo capacity between the Philippines and China has been increased as a result of the latest air talk agreement held recently in Beijing.
According to the Civil Aeronautic Board, a panel member of the Philippine delegation headed by the Department of Transportation and Communications, the Chinese government has granted the country of an additional capacity of 10,000 seats per week that will be allowed in a staggered basis.
Starting this month, an additional 6,000 seats per week will be allowed. This will be increased to 8,000 in March 2006 and 10,000 in March 2008.
At present the air seat capacity between the two countries is 5,000 per week.
The development will further prop up the Department of Tourism (DoT)_ efforts to strengthen its hold on the Chinese market.
Other members of the Philippine panel are the DoT, Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Trade and Industry.
