26-Dec-2007 - Xinhua |
Some 2.3 million foreign tourists visited Argentine capital Buenos Aires in 2007, roughly 200,000 more than a year earlier, the Buenos Aires Tourism Organization said on Monday.
Food, shopping, soccer and tango were the main attractions for the bulk of the tourists from the United States and European countries, it said.
They spent an average of 150 U.S. dollars a day during an average week-long stay there.
International travel publications, including the New York Times, have recommended Buenos Aires, boosting visitor numbers, the body said, adding that hotel occupancy rates are around 80 percent at the year-end.
In 2006, some 2.1 million tourists visited the city and in 2005 this number was around 1.8 million. |
