Bank Competitiveness Rankings Out
|
14-Mar-2005 - China Radio International |
Listed banks are ranked top in a list of competitiveness compiled by Chinese economists, beating state-owned heavyweights despite their massive re-capitalization by the government. China Merchants Bank, China Minsheng Banking Corporation and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, all national joint-stock banks listed on the domestic stock market, occupied the first three places on the list of Chinese commercial banks. These rankings are believed to be the most comprehensive so far, including the four State-owned banks, 10 joint-stock banks and 112 city commercial banks. The two State-owned lenders China Construction Bank and Bank of China were ranked fourth and fifth on the list. The other two, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Agricultural Bank of China, came out 10th and 13th respectively. |
