Beijing to Build More Suburban Parks

Beijing is planning to build 15 parks in its outskirts this year, and to boost the total number of suburb parks to 60 by 2008, the Star Daily reported on Tuesday.
The report quoted sources from the municipal development and reform commission as saying that the 15 parks will be located in Chaoyang, Haidian, Fengtai, Changping and Daxing districts. Construction work will kick off in June.
And 30 more parks will be built along the fourth and fifth ring roads next year. All of the parks will be open to public for free.
The parks will function as leisure spaces for citizens living in the suburbs and, at the same time, as a green belt around Beijing, helping to safeguard the environment in the Chinese capital. |
