Beijing travel trade not panicking
|
28-Apr-2004 - |
The travel trade here is monitoring the impact of the reappearance of SARS, but is not alarmed.
¡°The problem is how the overseas press reacts to this,¡± said Liu Shehong, deputy manager of CTI¡¯s Europe Inbound department.
She admitted that it would have some influence on some markets at least, like the American market.
¡°The American market suffered the biggest loss last year, and we haven¡¯t seen clear recovery signs till now.¡±
But she said that Europe appears more optimistic.
¡°Northern Europe is in a slack season, so it won¡¯t be influenced much at this moment.¡±
The World Health Organisation said yesterday that it¡¯s not necessary to raise the alarm in Beijing. They commended the Chinese government¡¯s quick response and information sharing on the outbreak.
