Building unit sales up 40% in HK

Hong Kong's sale and purchase agreements for all types of building units in June reached 12,672,up 40.3 percent over last year's same period, the Land Registry said.
Of the agreements, 10,750 were for residential units, down 13.7 percent from May, and up 46 percent from June last year. Total consideration was 30.6 billion HK dollars (3.92 billion US dollars), down 33.1 percent from May, but up 72.8 percent from June last year.
According to the Land Registry, sales of residential units refer to the sale and purchase agreements with payment of stamp duty. These statistics do not include sales of units under the Home Ownership, Private Sector Participation or Tenants Purchase Schemes, except those after premium payment.
