11-Mar-2003 - |
Cambodian state-owned Mekong airlines launched a new service on Mar.7 between Phnom Penh and HongKong. The inaugural flight to Hong Kong International Airport landed at 14:45 (06:45 GMT). This new service to the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, will link passengers to Angkor Wat with an immediate connection to Siem Reap, the fast-growing tourist area and gateway to the historic Buddhist temple complex. With its elaborate construction and long history, Angkor Wat is one of the world's largest monuments that is venerated as a religious and architectural marvel. According to Hong Kong International Airport, airlines from 140 countries and regions fly via Hong Kong International Airport each year, and eight airlines including Lanzhou and Urumqi, two mainland airlines from northwestern China, have started flight services to Hong Kong since 2001. |
