The first of 20 new-generation Boeing 737-800 planes ordered by China Southern Airlines (CSA) flew into the Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, Monday from Seattle in the United States.
CSA placed the orders for 20 new Boeing 737-800 planes with the Boeing Company last year. The new planes will be used to replace those now in operation, said corporate sources from CSA.
According to these sources, nine new aircraft, including the one just received, will be delivered in 2002 and 2003, and will all be used for the company's flight operations from central China's Hubei Province.
CSA, one of the country's leading flight carriers, has a fleet of 112 planes and now operate 385 international and domestic air routes.
