China announces reexamination of antidumping tax against Japan, ROK
|
8-Apr-2005 - Xinhua |
China announced Friday that it will reexamine its anti-dumping measures against steel imported from Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK).
According to an announcement from the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), the ministry began Friday to examine whether the antidumping measures against rolling stainless sheet steel will be extended or canceled.
The reexamination will last 12 months until April 8, 2006.
In December 2000, the former Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) levied anti-dumping tax against sheet steel from the ROK, with a term of five year.
According to relevant Chinese regulations, if the suspension of anti-dumping measures may lead to possible recurrence or continuity of dumping actions, the levy of anti-dumping taxes can be prolonged.
As the time for ending the tax nears, three Chinese companies applied to the ministry to reexamine the case and prolong the term.
