China's ocean fisheries boom

China's ocean fisheries produced a value of nearly ten bln yuan last year.
Authorities with Ministry of Agriculture say the output of China's ocean fisheries accounted for more than 1.2 million tons last year, producing a total value of nearly ten billion yuan, or more than one billion US dollars.
Over the past 20 years, Chinese fisheries have established wide-ranging links with foreign fisheries for mutual benefit and also conducted joint research into the proper use of ocean resources.
China also joined 10 international fishery accords and regional fishery organizations to contribute to the protection and management of ocean resources.
At present, China has nearly 90 fishery enterprises and more than 1,700 large fishing vessels.
