China to Conduct Land Census

China is to launch a nationwide land census this year to better regulate the country's land resources.
The census will be the second of its kind since the founding of the People's Republic in 1949.
This census will ensure the accuracy of land data through comprehensive investigations and the use of a registration system.
Fan Zhiquan is an official with China's Land and Resources Ministry.
"We plan to spend three years conducting a thorough census on farmland and construction lands all over China. Through the census, all kinds of information about the land will become clear and it will be digitalized on an information system. This will help the macro controls on land resources to be more easily regulated."
